Gianni Mini has got a degree in lyric chant. He starts his activity with pop music, winning some singing competitions at the Festival di Castrocaro Terme and at the selections of Sanremo Giovani.
At the beginning of the Nineties, he works in Rome for Mediaset as a soloist and choir singer. He studies dance and theatre, and he plays several roles from the musicals “West Side Story”, “Porgy and Bess”, and “Chicago”. He works with the Company “Pupi e Fresedde” in the play “Il Marescalco”, under the direction of Angelo Savelli. In this pièce, played for more than two years, he sings songs by the Trio Lescano as a counter-tenor.
In 1998 he works for the Associazione Demidoff as a singer-actor with the Teatri dell’Invasione, and as a solo singer for the opening of the musical “Cantando Sotto la Pioggia”, with Raffaele Paganini.
In 2007 we works with Accademia Danza Forlì as a jurist in the selection of the actors for two musicals, and he teaches in a stage on the character interpretation.
He sings as a soloist and in a quartet for the radio programme “Ottanta Radio”, on Rai Radio Uno.
He keeps on studying singing, especially Jazz music. In New York, he takes part to stages with gospel singers as Bob Singleton and Chanda Roule, and in Italy he studies with Cheryl Porter, that he starts a long cooperation with.
In 1997 he sets up and directs the choir “The Pilgrims Gospel”, which keeps on singing all around Italy.
His musical interests turned into opera singing. Since 2001, Gianni Mini sings in the choir Ruggero Maghini for the symphonic productions of Rai Torino, under the direction of Masters as Jeffry Tate, G. Albrecht, Rafael Fruhbek de Burgos.
In 2004 he sings in the choir of the Teatro Comunale di Modena, in the choir “Athestis”, in the ensemble of ancient music “I Cantori di Lorenzo”, in the Chamber Choir “Ricercare Ensemble” with the collaboration of the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova. He sings in various events of Sacred and Chamber music.
He directs the Coro da Camera dell’Università di Firenze, and also the ensemble of baroque music “Capriccio Armonico”, which plays in Palazzo Pitti and Palazzo Vecchio. He sets up and directs the choirs “Joy singers” and “Accademy singers”.
He sings as a solo tenor in the operas “Le Nozze di Figaro” (Mozart), “La scala di seta” (Rossini), “Le convenienze e inconvenienze teatrali” (Donizzetti), “Didone e Enea” (Purcell) e “Fashion” (Modern Opera on booklet by Paolo Donati), “La Fontana Magica” (Benito Zorzit) under the direction of Donatella Debolini. He takes part as a speaker to the Operas “Jephte” (Carissimi), “Le Reniement de St. Pierre” (Charpentier), Stabat
He teaches vocal technique, choir, singing and musical interpretation.
